Three trucks collided yesterday morning on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road crippling traffic movement between Dubai and Sharjah, ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper reports.

The Arabic daily reported that the crash occurred on Sharjah-Dubai route and led to a huge traffic hold-up for three hours, which extended right into the streets of Sharjah due to it being peak travel hours.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director General, Dubai Traffic Police, said that the incident caused three injuries.

He added that hundreds of people were seen stepping out of cars and walking after the traffic stopped.

Mazrouei said that at 5.15am yesterday a truck loaded with cement materials swerved leading to a collision with other trucks.

He added that cargo on the trucks also fell on the road, which led to the closure of a number of lanes.

He pointed out that the Dubai patrols conducted traffic as best possible in cooperation with the Sharjah Police.
