Crane accident in Dubai kills 1

An accident at a construction site in Dubai killed one worker and at least two others were injured, according to the Police Chief.

Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Commander-in-Chief, Dubai Police, said the accident occurred when a crane was used to transport workers up to the seventh floor at the site, reported ‘Emarat Al Youm’.

Crane workers allegedly dropped the box on the floor, unaware that they were two people inside. The box fell to the ground, killing one of the workers inside on the spot.

The other worker inside as well as a person standing on the ground suffered injuries.

Safety engineer has been arrested.
