Thick black smoke was seen billowing from a high-rise on the Palm in Jumeriah. Residents and office-goers in the area were quick to take pictures and post it on social media networks.
Civil Defence spokesperson confirmed there was a “small fire in a building that was under construction” at the Palm Jumeriah.
“Fire on the Palm in Dubai visible from offices in MediaCity,” tweeted one Dubai resident.
“Something on fire in Palm Jumirah fire Dubai,” added another.
A few minutes later, another resident reported, “Fire extinguished in record time near the entrance of the Palm - Dubai.”
“Smoke is billowing but it doesn't appear to be getting bigger,” added another twitteratti.
“The fire has been put out. There are no causalities,” added the Civil Defence spokesperson.
He was unable to report about the cause of the fire.
