Dead baby boy found in Al Dhaid desert

An apparently abandoned baby boy aged between two and three weeks with Asian features was found dead in a desert area in Al Dhaid.

Police and medical sources said the baby was wrapped in newspapers and could have died because of hunger and heat as he was dumped in an open area.

Dubai-based Emirat Alyoum Arabic language daily said the body was found near Barair area between junctions 10 and 11 in Dhaid on Saturday, adding that doctors at Dhaid hospital were testing the baby’s DNA for possible identification.

“The baby has Asian features and he had likely died because of hunger and heat as the body was still almost intact and not decomposed,” one doctor said.
