Dead newborn baby found at Sharjah waste site

Sharjah police found a newly-born boy at a general waste site and it was not immediately clear whether he has been dumped dead or alive.

Police rushed to the site in Sajaa after receiving reports on the discovery of the body, which has apparently been dumped in the past few days as it was decomposed.

The semi-official daily Al Ittihad quoted police as saying investigation is underway to determine the baby’s age and those who are behind the crime.

“Tests will determine whether the baby has been dumped dead or alive in the garbage,” the paper said, quoting a police source.
