Heavy fog clouded main roads across the UAE this morning, especially the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route till Shahama.

Drivers were put on low-visibility alerts amid heavy humidity and expectations of traffic jams with more schools opening today across the UAE.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) had forecast relative humidity will increase during night and early morning over some coastal areas with chance of fog formation.

NCMS also forecast the weather to be ‘hazy and partly cloudy’, adding, "Some towering clouds may develop over the eastern and western internal areas by afternoon, which could lead to possible rainfall."

The eastern part of the country has been experiencing rainfall for the past week, with Hatta, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Sharjah and Al Dhaid all experiencing showers and sporadic thunderstorms. Masafi experienced the highest rainfall during this period, with the NCMS recording 41mm of rain.

"The sea will be slight to moderate in general in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea," the forecast added..
