Dewa awards Dh57m water pipeline project

Project will help meet rising water demand in Palm Jumeirah

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded a contract for a project to supply, extend and implement a 600/900mm-diameter water transmission network by 3km in Palm Jumeirah.

"The main objective of the project is to enhance production and operational capacity, support water transmission networks and increase water flow to meet a sharp rise in demand for water for current and future projects in the Palm," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD  and CEO of Dewa.

"The project includes laying 600/900mm-diameter water transmission pipes made of glass-reinforced epoxy to transmit water from the trunk of the Palm, crossing the tunnel, and reaching the crescent of the Palm. The total cost of the project is approximately Dh57.5 million," he added.

"The project and is expected to be completed within 18 months," Al Tayer added.
