An Asian man seeking to renew his car registration without having it tested pulled a Dh100 note and handed it to the traffic police car test employee in Fujairah, apparently not realizing he would end up behind bars and then out of the country.

Police arrested the Asian driver after the employee at the traffic examination centre in the eastern emirate reported he tried to bribe him.

The employee said the driver wanted to pay him Dh100 so he would let his vehicle pass through the examination centre.

“The criminal court in Fujairah sentenced the Asian man to three months in jail and ordered his deportation of the UAE on charges of bribing a public servant,” the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said on Wednesday.
