A 31-year-old Arab woman appears to be eying Guinness Book of World Records after piling up 1,380 traffic offences worth nearly Dh1 million in the UAE and Oman.

She also told Ras Al Khaimah authorities that she is suffering from psychological problems that push her to drive recklessly just after she gets behind the wheel.

The woman said she would ask the traffic police in Ras Al Khaimah, where she lives, to take her mental condition into consideration and slash the fines, adding that she had presented a medical report from a Dubai hospital supporting her claims.

But RAK authorities made clear that her health condition does not warrant her driving behavior and that she must be prosecuted for such crimes.

“She told us that the moment she gets into the car, she feels she wants to drive fast,” said Zayed Mohammed, RAK’s chief traffic prosecutor.
“The problem is that she thinks she will enter the Guinness book by committing these crimes.

“She has not registered her vehicle for more than four years and has not left one emirate in the UAE without committing traffic offences in it.”

Quoted by Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm, he said the woman, identified as RNA, had presented a medical report from a Dubai hospital showing she was suffering from psychological problems.

“She asked us to take her health condition into account, but we believe this medical report has nothing to do with the traffic law. She has committed hundreds of crimes which are punishable under the country’s traffic law,” he said.

Emarat Al Youm quoted the woman as saying she has been treated at a psychiatry hospital in Dubai and that she would hire a lawyer to defend her at the traffic court.
