An Arab woman who piled up traffic offences worth nearly Dh1 million told investigators she had committed such violations because of psychological problems.

The woman has been detained for investigation by the traffic prosecution in Ras Al Khaimah, where she lives, after piling up fines of round Dh36,000 in the northern emirate.

Other offences, mostly speeding, were recorded in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the remaining UAE emirates as well as Oman.

“During interrogation, she said that she had committed these offences because she is suffering from a psychological condition that pushes her to drive fast,” said Zayed Mohammed, chief traffic prosecutor in RAK.

He said the unnamed woman has accumulated 67 offences, mostly excessive speed, in RAK as well as 1,313 other offences in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other emirates.
