Dh200 fine for illegal parking in Sharjah

The rule applicable on weekends and public holidays

Motorists who park illegally in public spaces on weekends and public holidays will henceforth be fined Dh200, according to Sharjah Municipality.

The rule will be effective beginning Friday (February 10), reported 'Al Khaleej' newspaper.

Sultan Abdullah Al Muala, Director-General, Sharjah Municipality, said the decision aims to prevent misuse of public parking space as some motorists use more than one alloted space to park one vehicle.

This is all fine but municipality has sold most of the parking spaces and you have signs saying reserved parking 1,000 dirhams fine for parking at those spots. For example at First Gulf Bank and Dodge Showroom on King Abdul Aziz Street try to park there and see for yourself the available parking spots; definitely you will be surprised.

Let's see as on Fridays especially on Marijah Corniche during the prayers time till late road is blocked with cars parked. Even a person can't even walk for that 3 hours from 11 to 2 pm.
