Dh25 million necklace made famous by Nicole Kidman on display in Dubai

A of 1400 karat diamond necklace worth Dh25 million is on display at a diamond exhibition at the Deira city Centre outlet of a jewellery retailer, Malabar Gold.

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman wore the necklace on its debut outing on the red carpet at the 80th Oscar Academy Awards.

As part of Diamond Expressions, an exclusive exhibition of diamond jewllery and solitaires, the gold and diamond merchant is exhibiting the diamond necklace worth Dh25 million, designed by the international designer L’Wren Scott, French designer and another neck-shoulder jewellery designed by Reena Thakur. The corresponding Indian Price is Rs40 crore.

The spectacular diamond necklace ‘SAUTOIR’ is a stunning creation with a rare combination of rough and polished diamonds and a wide range of shapes and cuts encompasses a total of 7,645 diamonds including rough, faceted and polished diamonds, which total nearly 1,400 carats.

The design of the  necklace is designed in a truly unique way. It has been imported from Belgium and the intricate design required over 6,200 man hours to craft it to perfection.

The Sautoir, produced and manufactured by Uni-Design Limited in Paris and India uses a wide range of shapes and cuts of diamonds. “Each diamond was individually selected by L'Wren Scott to fit together into an overall design. The intricate design required in excess of 6200 man hours to handcraft. Diamonds have never been used in such a truly unique way on the Red Carpet. It is a tribute to the visionary direction of the designer that such an astounding quantity of diamonds can be worn so effortlessly,” said a review of the most expensive jewellery.

“The diamond necklace was on display with tightened security and alert because it is one of the

10 to 12 most expensive diamond necklaces in the world. We have also displayed the replicas of world famous diamonds like the Kohinoor,” Shyam Lal, Managing Director, Malabar Gold added.

“There is a lot of interest in the diamond necklace and we are arranging private preview of the necklace to a selected number of celebrities and VIPs,” he added.

Other attraction of the extravaganza is an exhibition of the replicas of legendary world famous diamond such as Cullinan, Darya-i-nur, Great Mogol, Hortensia, Kohinoor, Nizam, etc.

Also on display is a wide variety of jewellery including every day, bridal, solitaire and men’s jewellery from around the world, showcasing the latest and world class diamond jewellery that suits the tastes and budgets of their diverse customers.

The diamond exhibition will be running from February 7-16.
