His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has ordered a total additional payment of Dh26.6 million to Emiratis whose 6, 652 taxi number plates are being used by the Dubai Taxi Corporation and taxi franchise companies registered with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The RTA will commence on April 1 distribution of bonus payment for 2014 to the beneficiaries, in addition to their annual entitlements.
Matar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, thanked Sheikh Mohammed for ordering the payment of the bonus to the owners of taxi plate numbers, many of whom have limited incomes so that they may provide a decent living for their families.
He added that "the reward is one of the noble gestures frequently made by Sheikh Mohammed to help improve the living conditions of citizens, especially those of limited income."
