An Asian man has won a court case for Dh2 million in compensation, after he was crippled and became impotent when he was hit by a speeding car in Dubai.

A Court of First Instance in Abu Dhabi ordered the driver and the insurance firm to pay damages to the man after Dubai’s traffic investigators found the driver responsible for the 2008 accident, by driving recklessly and violating traffic laws.

A medical report showed the Asian suffered from paralysis in his hands and legs, lost sight in one eye and was unable to have intercourse, Emarat Al Youm daily said.

The lawyer for the plaintiff had sought nearly Dh21 million damages but the court decided on Dh2 million compensation, the paper said.
