Dubai Health Authority (DHA) received more than 1,000 job applications from UAE nationals during the first two days of Careers UAE 2016.

DHA had earlier announced 400 job vacancies for UAE nationals in the fields of nursing, medicine, administrative jobs and paramedics at Careers UAE 2016.

“We received 1,008 applications during the first two days of the career exhibition and we interviewed 100 candidates out of which 40 were shortlisted,” said Noura Al Midfa, head of recruitment at DHA.

Al Midfa also revealed that out of the majority of applications, more than 70 per cent, were women.

“Twenty-five per cent of those interviewed were paramedics. We also had nutritionists and pharmacists apply for jobs. I was impressed with the Emiratis who have been coming to our stalls. They showed knowledge in their fields and I expect that we are going to have a successful hiring process this year,” she said.

With the objective of raising the numbers of UAE nationals working in the medical field, DHA participated at Careers UAE a platform that provides nationals with an opportunity to meet employers.

Through Careers UAE, which is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Center from May 16-18, the authority aims to recruit fresh graduates and experienced UAE nationals.

Emirati visitors seeking to work at DHA can do so by applying at the DHA stand in careers UAE or online.

On spot interviews will also take place at the authority’s stand.

DHA is offering attractive packages for Emiratis that include: competitive salaries, health insurance, plane tickets and nature of work compensation for some professions.
