Cardiologists at Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will perform more than 75 heart surgeries on poor Sudanese children as part of the Nabadat heart care programme.

Nabadat - Arabic for heartbeat - was launched by DHA and the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment to provide free medical assistance, surgery and post-surgical care to children whose parents cannot afford to pay.

The DHA sponsors the treatment of Emiratis and expatriates.

Saleh Zaher, Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, said the humanitarian medical mission was the third to be conducted in Sudan by a medical team of 22 cardiologists, intensive care specialists and nursing and technical professionals.

He said the team arrived in Khartoum on Saturday and will stay until 18th December to conduct surgeries on children from poor families who suffer from congenital heart disease, along with other procedures.
