Dhow on fire in Dubai; traffic gridlock reported

A wooden dhow is on fire at Marsa Al Khor area in Deira, with civil defence authorities on the scene battling the blaze.

Eye witnesses reported a black plume visible as far as Business Bay, while Civil Defence has confirmed the incident, stating the dhow is located at berth number six and was reported at 1.13pm.

Three teams have been dispatched to contain the blaze, even as eye witnesses report heavy traffic near Floating Bridge and the surrounding areas.

Drivers are being advised to look at alternative routes.

Details of the blaze have yet to be released.
