Directive to help female employees in Sharjah retire after 15 years in service

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on has directed the human resources department of the government of Sharjah to help any female employee retire upon completing 15 years in service based on her special circumstances and her explanation of the reasons for retirement, according to Tareq bin Khadem, Member of Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Human Resources Department.

Bin Khadem, in an interview with Sharjah TV, said that according to the decision, any married or unmarried working woman of any age who completed 15 years in service are eligible to receiving 60 per cent of her salary provided that her salary is Dh10,000 as a minimum.

"We understand that women shoulder many responsibilities including toward their work, husbands and children. After 15 years in service, because of unforeseen circumstances that call for her retirement, we should thank these women for what the services they offered to the state, and honour them for their many responsibilities," said Bin Khadem.

The official also reviewed a number of initiatives, that are in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Sultan, for promoting the rights of women and ensuring their family stability.

He noted that HH Sheikh Sultan recenlty issued directives to increase maternity leave from 60 to 90 days and to give the female employee to add this leave to her annual leave and an unpaid leave of 30 days to take the total days up to 120 per year.
