Though dry until yesterday (Tuesday), swimming pools in Discovery Gardens will soon be ready to use.

Nakheel, the developer of the master community, plans to open six out of the 13 swimming pools by end of November, a company spokesperson told Emirates 24|7.

No information was given on whether residents will have to pay to use the pools.

In December last year, Nakheel had filled the pools, which this website reported, but the pools were not opened to residents.

Ali Saif, an apartment owner, says: “We haven’t got any email or notification from Nakheel on swimming pools.

“We have heard several times that the pools will open.”

On being informed that swimming pools may open by month-end, Roshini Baig, a resident, says: “I wish they open the pools soon as I have been taking my kids to the pools in the Gardens.

“We were optimistic that they were opening it last year, but it never happened. Hope they open it now.”

As per Nakheel website, there will be 13 community swimming pools – 12 of which will include children’s pools.
Last month, we reported that average rents had shot up with one-bed apartments witnessing a 25 per cent increase since beginning of the year.

Data analysed revealed rents for studio apartments now range between Dh30,000 and Dh35,000 per annum compared to Dh25,000 to Dh27,000 pa in the first quarter 2012, while rents for one-beds jumped to between Dh42,000 and Dh50,000 pa from Dh38,000 to Dh40,000 pa.

Discovery Gardens, which spans over 26 million square feet with 291 buildings, has over 26,000 residential units. The development consists of six themed communities inspired by garden living, and includes Zen, Mediterranean, Contemporary, Mogul, Mesoamerican and Cactus courtyard gardens.
