Discovery swimming pools get water... 3 years late

For the past three years, residents of Discovery Gardens wanting to swim in their buildings’ pools have been left high dry, like their buildings’ pools. But now, the pools are full of water but residents complain that they still don’t have access to them.

“We saw them filling water some weeks back, but we haven’t heard from them [master developer Nakheel] on when will they open the pool,” Nutan M, a resident in the Mediterranean cluster of Discovery Gardens told 'Emirates24|7'.

“We haven’t seen any workers on site. There is a lot of cleaning to be done to make it ready for us to use,” she added.

DM, an owner-resident, who bought an apartment with the swimming pool view, said: “We bought the apartment with a swimming pool view. It’s been over three years now but never were the pools filled with water. We did go to check but no notice of when the pool will be opened has been pasted.”

Asked if he had been informed of a fee to use swimming pool, he said: “No, we haven’t heard from them. It has not been mentioned in the service charge notice.”

Earlier, Nakheel had put warning signs to prevent entry in the pool area till they were officially ‘handed over’ to the residents.

According to Nakheel, there will be 13 community swimming pools – 12 of which will include children’s pools.

Discovery Gardens consists of six themed communities inspired by garden living, and includes Zen, Mediterranean, Contemporary, Mogul, Mesoamerican and Cactus courtyard gardens. The development spans over 26 million square foot plot and has 291 buildings.

The developer has recently announced plans to develop a retail centre in the master community, work for which will commence early next year.
