DM plants 30 olive trees in Quran Park

The Plantation Week campaign by Dubai Municipality entered its second stage where 30 olive trees were planted in Quran Park - an environmental project underway in Al-Khawanej.

Dr. Rashid Ahmed Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water and Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality were present at the event in Al-Khawanej.

The Plantation Week campaign aims to expand the green areas in the country and is a great move towards protecting environment and thus the whole life, said Lootah.

He pointed that Dubai Municipality has been in the fore to adopt policies and to implement projects including plantation drives in order to protect the planet, which made Dubai one of the best cities that care greenery.

And after winning the bid to host Expo 2020, such efforts have been doubled in this regard, he added.

The Quran Park project, which will be completed by the first half of 2015, is one of the important and most innovative projects undertaken by the civic body in order to increase green stretch.

It will give the visitors a chance to understand Holy Quran’s concept of environment as well as add  another fantastic green experience in Dubai, he said.

Folklore and cultural programmes were also part of the event.
