DMI honours unsung heroes

Dubai Media incorporated (DMI) honoured on Tuesday the participants of the first Shadow Knight contest.

The contest, which kicked off at the beginning of this year and concluded on May 27, aimed to honour and appreciate employees who work at the back-end and remain anonymous - the so-called unsung heroes.

Juma Akram Juma was named the winner after voters selected him as 'The Knight Of The Shadow'. He bagged a Nissan Infinity car.

The ceremony on Tuesday was attended by Ahmad Abdulla Al Shaikh, Managing Director and the Board Member of DMI, and Major-General Mohammad Ahmad Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

Ahmad Abdulla Al Shaikh said the first edition of the competition is a success and the resulsts are beyond expectations. "The contest received more than one million SMS by voters. This shows the willingness and enthusiasm of staff to participate in this contest in the region."

"The second edition of the competition will be launched next September," he added.

The competition is to encourage and motivate employees to perform better and achieve the highest quality standards set by the government.

The contest was launched by 'Emarat Al Youm' newspaper and is running under the patronage of DMI in collaboration with the General Department of Residency and Foreign Affairs.

The winners of the contest was decided on the votes received.
 
Also present at the ceremony were Dhaen Shaheen, Executive Director for the Press in DMI; Sami Al Riyami, Chief Editor, 'Emarat Al Youm'  and Ahmed Al Hamadi, Executive Director, Commercial Affairs and Marketing, DMI.
