Do your driving theory tests online in Sharjah

Sharjah Police has launched two new e-services, one for online theory tests for applicants of driving licenses and the other to get transit permits for trucks passing through the emirate.

The Traffic and Licensing Department of the police is now ready to process these two services through its web portal, Abu Dhabi-based Arabic language daily Al Ittihad reported.

The report quoted Lieutenant Colonel Arif Al Shamsi, Director of the department as saying applications can be submitted online.

The theory tests designed for new applicants of driving license in the emirate comprises two stages. While the first one is based on questions about universally recognised traffic signals, the second level contains a presentation of video clips simulating on-road situations drivers might face, Al Shamsi said.

The online issuance of transit permits for trucks would negate red-tapism, which currently haunts the applicants, and allow quick access to the necessary documents, he said.

Individuals or companies can apply free of cost through the website to procure transit permits which was hitherto issued from the traffic department’s offices after time-consuming process.
