Don't dump your old TV: Samsung has an immortality kit for it

Samsung TVs will never get old. Not anymore. In an effort to keep its clients up to date with the latest technology, Samsung has introduced its new F Series that users can update on their own.

The Evolution Kit is a tiny box that can be attached to the back of the TV and comes with a CPU. Users will have an option to upgrade their old smart TV by upgrading the kit from a dual core to a quad core and whatever is going to come up in the future.

“You can easily unplug the device and fit in a new one. It gives our users the flexibility whereby they don’t need to go for an all new TV when they want a simple software upgrade,” said Vinod Nair, General Manager TV Business, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

The Evolution Kit will also come with a Samsung Smart Touch remote through which one can interact with the TV using voice and gesture control.

The F8000 series comes in size classes ranging from 46-inch to 75-inch models and the F7500 series, which is available in 46-inch, 55-inch and 60-inch models and is priced between Dh5,099 up to Dh12,999.

Samsung has been witnessing double-digit growth within the TV sector. In 2012 it witnessed a 20 per cent growth in the UAE compared to the previous year. “We are expected to much better this year as well,” added Nair.

According to him its latest S9 Ultra HDTV with four times the resolution of a Full HD TV has been high on demand. Samsung started accepting pre-bookings for the yet to be released model during the Spring edition of Gitex. “Most of the pre-orders we have received are from private customers.” The TV will be out in the retail stores by May.

The S9 UHD TV has the largest screen in home entertainment viewing with brilliant picture quality in ultra-HD resolution. It also comes with Samsung’s up-scaling engine that can up-convert HD or Full-HD to UHD-level picture quality by combining an extremely high contrast ratio and ultimate dimming control functionality.

The S9 UHD is priced at Dh139,999.
