When Emirati drug dealer Hamad decided to quit the dirty business for the sake of having a baby, he realised that his repentance was not complete.
His wife did get pregnant but she fell ill and had repeated miscarriages. She then begged him to complete his repentance by getting rid of the dirty money he had amassed from drug dealing before marriage.
After turning himself to the police as a repentant drug addict, he decided to donate all his wealth, including money and luxury cars, to charity groups in Dubai. A few months later, Hamad’s wife recovered and gave him a baby boy.
Hamad immediately thought of marrying that girl and a few days later, he went to her family and posed as a well-known businessman.
“I struggled to forget this girl but I could not…I then decided to repent and I am still surprised at the strength and determination I had to achieve this,” Hamad said, quoted by Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily.
After marriage, Hamad began to change. He went straight to the police drug addiction centre and handed himself over. Police believed Hamad and found that the man was honest in his intention to quit drugs.
While he succeeded in his struggle to quit drugs, he could not have that success in having a baby as his wife fell ill and had repeated miscarriages.
In the end, she told him that he must get rid of his drug wealth to his repentance will be complete. Hamad immediately accepted his wife’s advice and decided to donate all his money and luxury cars to charity groups. He even sold his big house, donated part of its price to charity and bought a small house.
“Finally, Hamad had a baby boy and his wife recovered….he then managed to get a job with a small salary and decided to dedicate his life to his wife and son away from the luxury but dirty world of drugs…Hamad is now very happy and still feels sorry for all those years he had wasted in drugs,” Al Bayan daily said.
“The story of this young man is very interesting and should be studied…we have examined him again and again and found that he has fully recovered from addition…he has come to us voluntarily and that is why he was exempted from prosecution…we are even supporting and helping him in his new life and I wish all other young addicts will follow suit,” Asmawi told Emarat Al Youm.
