The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Afghani to ten years imprisonment followed by deportation for smuggling 74 capsules of drugs that he swallowed to escape detection.

He was also fined Dh50,000.

ZDA, 24, blacksmith, was arrested upon his arrival at Dubai International Airport on February 15 following a tip off made to police.

Searching him, the customs’ inspectors did not find any drugs with him.

However, the electronic inspection device showed strange bodies in his stomach.

Confronting him with that, the accused denied having any drugs in his stomach so he was transferred to Anti-Drugs General Department, testified Qasim Mosaad, 33, policeman.

Policemen who were assigned to guard him at Dubai Hospital testified that ZDA has released a total of 74 capsules from his body which proved containing a total of 623.07g of heroin and diazepam.

The Dubai Prosecution did not initiate hashish taking accusation against him although urine test proved positive to hashish active substance because it was outside the country’s boarders as per article No. 1 of the Federal Penalty Law No. 3 of 1987 and is amendments.
