Drug smuggler jailed for life

The federal supreme court sentenced an Asian man for life in jail after he was convicted of smuggling heroin into the UAE, press reports said on Wednesday.

A court in Fujeirah had earlier sentenced the unidentified smuggler to death but an appeals court reduced the verdict to life in prison, which was upheld by the federal supreme court.

Two accomplices who were convicted earlier were acquitted.
