Drugs found in car's fire extinguisher

Abu Dhabi Customs officers recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,575 drugs pills by a traveller entering the UAE through Al Ghowaifat border post.

Suspecting the traveller, customs officers first searched his car with special inspection tools and they found the fire extinguisher in his car has an unusual thickness.

The officers opened the fire extinguisher and found the illegal drug pills in it.

The case has been referred to Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution for further investigation.

Commenting on the incident, Mohammed Al Hamli, director-general of Abu Dhabi Customs, praised the efforts of the customs inspectors to protect the UAE from the menace of drugs. The officers are highly trained in body language which helps them in foiling attempts to smuggle banned products.
