Dubai Air Wing rescues sailor

An air wing aircraft of the Transport and Rescue General Directorate of Dubai Police carried out a humanitarian mission at sea, 17 nautical miles from the coast of Dubai, within the territorial waters of the UAE.

The operations room of Dubai Police received a call stating that an Indian sailor suffered “amputation of his index finger on the left hand", on board a vessel called the ‘Passat’.

The vessel did not have a runway for a plane to land.

Major General Anas Abdulrahman Al Matroushi, Director General, Administration, Transport and Rescue, said “In record time we were able to reach the area of the ship, where the injured man, aged 44, was air-lifted from the surface of the ship by a crane and transferred to Rashid Hospital for treatment.”

Maj. Gen. Al Matroushi said that what the air wing is a national duty and activates the principle of community partnership to provide better services in the fastest time, under any circumstances.
