Dubai Airports has diverted 13 flights on Tuesday morning following low visibility caused by fog.

A spokesperson confirmed to 'Emirates24|7', saying: “Normal operations were affected at Dubai International this morning owing to low visibility caused by fog, with 13 incoming flights diverted to neighbouring airports.

“Dubai Airports is working to minimise inconvenience to our passengers.”

A passenger aboard Indian carrier SpiceJet stated his flight, which was to land at 3.30am in Dubai was diverted to Fujairah, which eventually landed at Terminal 1 at 9.35am.

Passenger Jimit Shah posted updates on Facebook, saying: “The captain announced the runway at Dubai Airport was closed for several hours, so we are waiting at Fujairah Airport.”

The three-hour journey from India, resulted in a 12-hour ordeal for the passengers on board the flight.

On Monday, heavy fog conditions disrupted air travel at Abu Dhabi International Airport, with Etihad Airways confirming it was forced to divert 15 of its flights to various airports in the region.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has reported visibility was reduced to 50m in parts of the country, with Dubai being the most affected.
