The bodies of an Indian family – husband, wife and girl child - were buried on Saturday morning at the Sharjah Hindu electric crematorium in the presence of a few close relatives and friends.

Santhosh Kumar, film producer and businessman, his wife and child were found dead in an apartment in the Al Nahda area of Dubai in the second week of July, 2014.

Santhosh Kumar, film producer, his wife Manju and daughter Gauri (8 years) were cremated close to three weeks after the family was found dead in their apartment located in the Mega Mart building in Al Nahda.

Dubai Police found a suicide note written by the deceased man claiming responsibility for the death of his wife and daughter. The man allegedly stabbed his wife and daughter to death and then slashed his wrists to end his own life.

“There were only 10 to 12 people at the crematorium to witness the last rites. His brother, who works in Oman, came down and a few close relatives and friends from the UAE were present,” said an Indian community member who attended the cremation.

Santhosh Kumar allegedly incurred huge losses after his production of a film ‘Chattakkari’, a remake of an old classic, flopped at the box office.

“Gauri was their adopted daughter,” said a family friend.
