There’s good news for bargain-hunting UAE residents travelling through one of Dubai’s airports during the forthcoming Eid break.

To celebrate the forthcoming Eid Al Fitr, Dubai Duty Free will offer customers travelling to and from Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airport, a special 20 per cent discount across a wide range of products from June 30 to July 3, 2016.

“This special 20 per cent discount promotion aims to provide all our customers flying in and out of Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airport, an attractive and affordable way of shopping in our retail outlets,” said Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Duty Free.

“We are optimistic that residents and visitors who choose to travel on these days will take advantage of this exciting offer,” McLoughlin added.

As Emirates 24|7 reported earlier this month, Apple has unveiled its largest travel retail stores in Dubai, just in time to cash in on the expected summer vacation rush at the airports.

On June 14, Dubai Duty Free (DDF) officially opened two Apple store programmes at Dubai International T3, with the stores representing the largest Apple experience in travel retail.

DDF sold close to 50,000 iPhones and iPads in 2015 (38,057 iPhones and 10,657 iPads), and the world’s largest retailer in terms of sales announced sales of Dh6.892 billion ($1.888 billion) for 2015.

The ongoing 20 per cent discount , however, excludes iPhones and other electronics, besides a number of other product categories, DDF said.

The offer applies to select categories including perfumes, cosmetics, watches, pens, costume jewellery, precious jewellery, handbags, sunglasses, ladies & men’s fashion while excludes certain categories including gold, electronics and select watch brands, said DDF.

Nearly 2 million passengers are expected to travel through Dubai International Airport during the two weekends of June 30 and July 7, Dubai Airports had announced last week.

To avoid the rush at the Dubai Duty Free counters during the days, the agency is advising customers to avail of this offer online and the discount will be available on collection at the time of payment at any Dubai Duty Free’s dedicated web shop centrally located in all concourses and terminals during the promotion period.

Dubai Duty Free currently operates some 34,000 square metres of retail space at Dubai International Airport, including 7,000 square metres of the recently opened Concourse D. It also operates 2,500 square metres at Al Maktoum International in Dubai South.
