Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department is probing the cause of fire that broke out on Wednesday at Sulafa Tower in Dubai Marina.

Investigators at Dubai Police’s CID department have started investigating the cause of Sulafa Tower fire, said Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigations.

The fire broke out at around 2.30pm in the 75-storey Sulafa Tower, located opposite Oceana Towers and Westin Hotel.

Al Mansouri confirmed all building occupants are safe and that no one was seriously injured during the incident.

Dubai firefighters completely put out Sulafa Tower fire in less than three hours.

The fire did not cause major damage because it broke out at the corners of the residential building, said Major General Rashid Thani Rashid Al Matroushi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Defence.

The blaze, which is believed to have started on the 60th floor of the residential skyscraper, spread out to the eight floors above because of the wind.

The official added that the building's built-in fire extinguishers were used in bringing the fire under control and minimising resulting damage.
