Dubai Police helps children neglected by their families. They enrolled a boy in school, found job for another and even referred a helpless woman to a charity home.

Dubai Police helped two brothers who were neglected by their Emirati father settle down, according to a report in Arabic daily Al Bayan.

The cops were tracking their case for the last four years, the paper added.

The man sent the younger boy to India to study the Holy Quran and then brought him back when he faced some difficulty there and sent him to a GCC country to stay with a relative, said Reem Al Amiri, Head of Victim Care Department, Al Qusais Police Station.

However, the youngster approached the UAE consulate there and requested he be sent back to the UAE.

During this period of observation, Dubai Police also learnt that the man was not taking care of his older son, who was unemployed.

So, after securing official documents for the youngster’s return to the UAE, Dubai Police coordinated with the Community Development Authority and rented a flat for the two boys.

Police enrolled the younger boy in a school to pursue his education and helped his brother get a government job.

That was not all. Police observed that the younger boy was planning a revenge on his father. So they referred him to a rehabilitation centre for psychological treatment, as well.

In another case, the police referred a 10-year-old girl to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children [DFWAC] when they discovered the child was ‘illegitimate’ and was being assaulted by her family, said Al Amiri.

Similarly, another mother and her six-year-old son were referred to the DFWAC after the cops discovered that the boy was being dressed as a girl. Upon questioning the mother, they learnt that she did not have money to buy clothes for the boy and so dressed him up in girls’ clothes.
