Dubai Police’s Internet CID are keeping a close watch for any paedophile activity.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Major Rashid Lootah, Head of Electronic Forensic at the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology of Dubai Police, said that they have arrested a few foreigners involved in such activity.

So far, Dubai Police have also arrested an Arab man who showed interest in paedophilia and he was sharing and receiving data from suspected websites.

“This was not the only case, we have a couple other foreigners in the past who were involved in such things,” Major Rashid Lootah said.

“We are monitoring all types of electronic crimes, but we have special focus in paedophile crimes as this is key to prevent such crimes from taking place.

“We have daily electronic patrols on all suspected websites and networks. We mainly target all those who are based in the UAE, and who show any interest in paedophilia.”

“These people seek such websites to share and receive pictures and videos. Thus, we search for these people and monitor laptops, mobile phones, computers and all other devices to see the data they saved, sent or received.

“This is essential in order to see whether these people committed crimes related to paedophilia in the emirate or in their home countries.”

Major Lootah added that such people are not normal and they have a high potential of committing crimes.

“We don’t have to wait for them to commit a crime in which the victim will be a child. We should detain them and investigate their cases before everything else.”
