What happens when a McLaren races with a drone across the streets of Dubai?

A thrilling ride for starters, especially when the McLaren in question is one of the Dubai Police supercars.

A special preview to the World Drone Prix has been unveiled in this edge-of-the-seat adrenaline-charged video.

Taking place at Skydive Dubai on March 11 and 12, the World Drone Prix will feature over 100 drone racing teams from across the globe competing for a combined $1million prize purse that will be split across 19 categories.

The video features the Dubai Police supercar racing across the emirate’s well-known landmarks with a drone capturing the breathtaking ride.

Starting amidst the dunes of Hatta, the supercar zips across Dubai’s glass-lit skyline towards Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa, before zipping its way towards the Burj Al Arab, The Palm Jumeirah and finally, reaching the finish line at the Skydive Dubai strip.

The first World Drone Prix event has been organised by the World Organisation of Racing Drones (W.O.R.D.), which will see teams chosen from a series of pre-qualifying events held March 7 and 8 in Los Angeles, Berlin, Seoul, among others.

More than 100 drone racing teams from around the world will attempt to qualify for 32 final spots over Dubai 2016 Aerial Track.

On day one of the event, the number will whittle down to half, with March 12 seeing the final 16 battle it out in a series of races for the final four to compete it out.
