Dubai Police has been instructed to monitor speed radars and install them on all the roads that have witnessed speed violations and high rate of death.

Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, chaired a meeting of Ministry of Interior (MoI) Police Chiefs Council.

Khalfan said the police forces should exert efforts to achieve the goal to reduce deaths to 0 by the year 2020 through intensifying police patrols in areas that witness high traffic accidents.

The police should also analyse the cause of accidents to find a solution and reduce deaths, in addition to organising traffic awareness campaigns.

Khalfan reviewed the distribution of radars along main roads and their role in reducing speed, as well as mechanisms of recording traffic violations.

He instructed the traffic police chiefs to monitor speed radars and install them on all roads that have witnessed violations and a high rate of deaths.

Many topics relevant to the development of both police work and country's safety, as well as suggestions regarding the improvement of the whole security work mechanism were also discussed during the meeting.

The meeting, which was held at the Dubai Officers Club, was attended by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Muzainah, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, members of the council and a number of senior officers.
