Dubai rescue for man stuck in elevator

A man was stuck in the elevator of a footbridge in Deira on Thursday afternoon, said Civil Defence.

The elevator towards the footbridge on Abu Baker Al Siddique Road got stuck when it was off the ground, while it was carrying a passenger.

The man took a while before he called the Civil Defence. But once he did, a team arrived and set him free, said a Civil Defence official.

According to the source, calling Civil Defence is the right thing to do in such case. Although the elevator company is responsible for the technical failure of the lift, the rescue team has a procedure in place allowing to open the doors.

“For any kind of elevator in Dubai we have a way to open the doors if a passenger gets stuck.”
