Dubai resident Arpita Kaur vying for Miss India 2014 crown

An Indian expat based in Dubai has been shortlisted as one of the 25 finalists who will be competing for the very prestigious Femina Miss India 2014 title.

Arpita Kaur, age 20 years, lives in Karama in Dubai, as per her Facebook page and appeals to those active on social media to like, comment and help her in winning the crown.

Arpita studied in Our Own Indian High School.

“A big thank you to everybody who believed in me, trusted in me and have constantly filled me with motivation and acted as pillars of support. God bless always,” posted the finalist after being making it to top 25.



The young lady describes herself as a Dubai daughter and aspires to be an interior designer. She also appeals to her fans on Facebook to help her win Miss Multimedia Award, which will take her closer to the crown.



Arpita is also the only non-resident Indian to make it to the list of the finalists. All the other girls come from various parts of India.




Miss India or Femina Miss India is a national beauty pageant in India that annually selects three winners. The winner of Femina Miss India vies in Miss World, the first runner-up in Miss Earth, and the second runner up in Miss Supranational.



Femina Miss India is India's oldest and most credible beauty pageant with lineage of 50 years. The Pageant explores and brings together young talent for the fashion, lifestyle and entertainment industry.


Some of the winners of the competition have made it big in the world of entertainment and includes names such as Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra among others.
