Sheikh Zayed Road is by far the road where most traffic violations are recorded.

Nearly a fifth of all traffic violations recorded in the last 3 years (2013-2015) occurred on Sheikh Zayed Road.

This can be concluded from Dubai Statistics showing the distribution of traffic violations recorded in the emirate.

In total, 8.4 million traffic violations were recorded over the last three years. About 1.64 million of these violations occurred on Sheikh Zayed Road, accounting for 19.5 per cent of the total number.

The number of violations on the main artery of the emirate was at least three times higher than that on other main roads.

Al Khail Road ranked second, with 428,680 violations recorded, followed by Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road with 422,400 violations, and Emirates Road with 364,700 violations.

Dubai Police recently developed a smart system in which the distribution of violations in Dubai can be seen according to a variety of parameters such as location, time, nationality and violation type.

The system was developed for Dubai Police officers in order to deploy manpower more efficiently.

The data indicates that many offenders are frequent violators, as the total of 8.4 million violations were issued on 340,800 number plates only. This means that among the people who violated the traffic rules, 24.5 violations were issued per number plate.

A surprising statistic shows that most of the traffic fines that were issued over the last three years have been cleared; 96 per cent of the violations were paid.

It also showed that more than half of the violations, 4.75 million, were captured by radar, with the top speed recorded being 291kmph.
