Dubai’s police arrested a guard for two large housing complexes in the emirate for stealing several apartments in the buildings, using a rope to climb through the chute and enter the kitchen. When they raided his room in the building, they found big loot, which they described as “Ali Baba Cave.”

Police had suspected the guard following reports of recurrent burglaries in a housing complex in Qassis and another one in Jebel Ali. Investigators found out that the two targetted housing complexes were guarded by the same security firm.

“We then suspected that man and started to watch him closely…our men then saw him loving frequently through the building complex and watching families moving in and out,” Dubai’s CID chief Brigadier Khalil Al Mansoori said.

“He was then seen carrying a bag and climbing the pipes through the building’s chute…our men did not wait longer as they opened the chute door and screamed to him to come down….the shocked guard came down and was arrested.”

Quoted by Emarat Alyoum daily, Mansoori said police raiding the guard’s room found a big amount of mobile phones, jewelry, expensive watches and other electronics as well as cash. “It looked like Ali Baba Cave.”

Two fake detectives held for thefts in Sharjah

Sharjah police arrested two Comoros men for posing as detectives to rob people in industrial areas, using a motorcycle in their operations.

Police acted after receiving several reports that two motorcycle riders had stopped expatriates in some industrial areas and told them they were detectives before robbing them, according to the Arabic language daily Emarat Alyoum.

Investigation led to the arrest of one suspect who later confessed to be a culprit in the thefts that targetted Asian expatriate concentrations in industrial zones.

“The second culprit was arrested and confessed to the crime…the two confessed they had carried out several theft operations targetting money and mobile phones,”the paper said, quoting Sharjah police.

25-yr-old accused of trying to rape old woman

A 25-year-old man is on trial in Fujairah on charges of trying to rape an old woman before changing his mind when she told him she was like his mother.

The woman, in her late 50s, was walking back home in the city when the man stopped his car and offered her a lift, which she thankfully accepted.

Instead of taking her home, he sped off the road and went to a deserted farm area, where he asked her to have sex with him.

“She refused and begged him many times to let her go…she told him that she is like her mother, prompting him to let her go home in a bad psychological condition,”Al Khaleej Arabic language daily said.
