Dubai's 'quick' vehicle registration at new centre

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has opened the Quick Registration Centre; an advanced vehicle's technical testing facility at Al Qusais considered the first of its kind worldwide in providing fully automated testing lines technology, where vehicles are tested automatically without involving human intervention.

Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA's Licensing Agency, Marwan Qasqoos General Manger of Quick Registration Center, Stephen Valkwski  from the Germa Baesprth Company, and Abdul Aziz Al Mazmi, Senior Business Setup & Development Director at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development, along with Mohammed Abdul Karim, Director of Vehicles Licensing, Sultan Al Marzouki, Director of Drivers Licensing and Nabeel Yousef Al Ali, Director of Monitoring and Enforcement, among scores of RTA's directors.

Al Tayer toured the facilities of the Quick Registration Center, which is a member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SMEs Development, and has been established jointly by RTA's Vehicles Licensing Department Team and Bosch/Beissbarth, a German manufacturer of equipment and accessories of automobiles and vehicles.

Al Tayer was briefed on the process of vehicle testing starting from receiving the vehicle and snapping a photo of its number plate, and a communication with the traffic system is established from the moment the vehicle enters the testing bay, where head lights, brakes and suspension systems are checked, followed by checking the vehicle's undercarriage and chassis using a state-of-the-art imaging technology capable of detecting malfunctions.

Explaining the unique features of the Quick Registration Center, Marwan Qasqoos said, "The centre utilises cutting-edge vehicles testing technology worldwide, where each vehicles testing line is fitted with surveillance cameras screening all testing phases, including vehicle's number plate and headlight testing device without any human intervention.

“The centre is also equipped with a noise testing system considered the first of its kind in the UAE."

He pointed out that the centre adopts best-in-class technologies applicable in the field of monitoring and security, including surveillance monitors deployed in front of the testing lines to monitor the time taken and inspectors' efficiency, in addition to other monitors fitted in the central control room depicting the operational status in each line, together with surveillance monitors deployed at customers service area to monitor the workflow."

The centre includes six lines (bays) for testing vehicles of all sizes as well as a special track for testing bikes.
The centre accommodates about 1,500 vehicles a day, which compares well with other centers that have a capacity to test 700 vehicles in 9 bays.

The estimated capacity of Quick Registration Centre is about 20 vehicles per hour, and the Center offers services to customers from 07:00 am – 10:00 pm.
