Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road traffic update... flows smooth now

The traffic chaos, which was earlier reported on Sheikh Zayed Road to Abu Dhabi and the National Paints junction, has been cleared.

Earlier today, Sheikh Zayed Road was called a “car park”, with one commuter speaking to Emirates24|7 stating their morning drive to Abu Dhabi took an hour to reach Ghantoot from first interchange in Dubai.

The reason for the delays was due to the Al Rahba road closure, followed by an accident reported earlier in Samha.

Tweets mentioning the same added around 7am: “Sheikh Zayed Road is now backed-up to Khalifa Port interchange due to the road being closed at Al Rahba.”

Meanwhile, reports of sticky traffic was also reported from the Greens Community roundabout, heading from Al Khail and Hessa Street towards Al Sayel Street and the Sheikh Zayed Road exit.

Dubai Police also confirmed two other accidents on its official Twitter account, that added to the morning chaos.

The official authority tweeted: “An accident has been reported on Al Ittihad Road, opposite to The Flower Center toward Al Garhoud Bridge. Please drive safely.”

They also tweeted: “An accident has been reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road near Al Muhaisna Bridge toward Al Rashidiya Bridge. Please be extra cautious.”

While Dubai and the capital come to grips with the morning traffic, the road heading into the former from Sharjah is facing its own morning snarls, with Beirut Street, Sharjah Ring Road and the National Paints junction reportedly “bumper to bumper.”

No accident was reported in the area.
