Dubai’s Springs to get cinema, kids zone

In an effort to provide a variety of shopping and services options to its residents in Emirates Living area, Dubai’s master developer Emaar Properties will be doing a complete retail expansion and refurbishment of its existing shopping area called The Springs Village in the popular Springs community.

Upon completion of the works, residents in the area can for the very first time enjoy a sports zone, cinema and children’s activity zones in their neighbourhood.

Besides this, the new retail centre will include brands, clinics, a supermarket and different restaurants, making life much easier for the residents.

As reported last month by Emirates 24|7 (Read: Dubai's Springs Village to get an upgrade), Emaar had revealed to this website that it was “evaluating plans to further strengthen the retail and leisure offerings” in the community and this has now been made official with details in a notice sent to residents.

Residents are very happy about the development. “I thought they would include more shops and maybe a bigger supermarket but we never thought of things like a cinema and sports zone. It’s really going to help and we’ll have a closer alternative to the Mall of the Emirates or Ibn Battuta Mall, which are the closest malls for us right now,” said a German national living in Springs 11.

“We are happy but it’s going to be chaotic while all the expansion work continues,” added another resident in Springs 7, which is just opposite the Springs Village.

Currently, the small shopping centre houses the grocery store Choithram, a clinic and pharmacy, besides some food joints, a bookstore and a laundry.

A children’s nursery that also operates in the centre will not be affected and Emaar had earlier clarified to this website that its plans will not entail its relocation.

“The children’s nursery operations will not be affected,” the spokesperson assured this website.

Residents of the community have access to two other shopping centres – the Meadows Town Centre opposite the Springs 14 and a Meadows Village – which cater to their daily shopping needs.

Dubai is home to about 70 big and mid-sized shopping malls, including the Emaar-run Dubai Mall, which is the largest and most visited shopping destination in the world. Master developers in the emirate have announced plans to add another 10 malls in the near future, making it a true shopper’s paradise.
