Dubai Tram signs safety agreements

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed two cooperation agreements with the Directorate General of Civil Defence, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services regarding the development of areas served by the Dubai Tram through providing diverse ambulance and firefighting services and coping with accidents nearby the tramway and other areas in Dubai Emirate.

The agreements were signed by Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Acting CEO of Rail Agency from the RTA; Brigadier Ahmed Obaid Al Sayegh, Assistant Director General for Fire and Rescue from the Directorate General of Civil Defence, and Khalifa Aldrai, Executive Director, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services from the Corporation, in the presence of a host of officials from the concerned parties.

“The two agreements are instrumental for cementing the relationships with community organisations sharing interests common with the job nature of the RTA in general and the operational departments in particular,” said Al Ali.

Brigadier Ahmed Obaid Al Sayegh, Assistant Director General for Fire and Rescue from the Directorate General of Civil Defence, commended the agreement which will effectively boost the concept of protecting the mobility and enhancing the standing of Dubai in the field of transport.

Additionally, it will also step up joint cooperation and the strategic partnership between the Civil Defence and the RTA towards ensuring the safety of the Tram’s operations, and mitigating the impacts of any injuries or damage in case of an accident in the vicinity of the Tramway.”

Khalifa Aldrai, Executive Director, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, praised the tireless efforts of the RTA in delivering a variety of vital projects in Dubai Emirate in the field of public transport highlighted by the Metro; which, he says, has made a difference in the Emirate and the UAE in general, noting that the Tram will further boost the public transport culture amid community members.
