'The Perfect City' - which Dubai Land Department claims to be the first specialised sustainable city in the world - has been unveiled at Cityscape 2014.

Part of DLD’s seven year plan, The Perfect City initiative represents a comprehensive system of sustainable real estate solutions, a DLD statement said.

The Perfect City will be based on seven basic pillars. In addition to DLD, which includes its Rera regulatory arm and the Investment Management and Promotion Centre, it will contain six other entities, namely: Real Estate Court, Real Estate University, Real Estate Museum, Sustainability Centre, Emirates Real Estate Solutions and the Real Estate World Centre, the latter of which will include global real estate companies, real estate development companies and real estate brokerage offices. The Perfect City will be based on three essential qualities 'Smart,' 'Sustainable' and 'Safe.'

“We decided to surprise visitors to this year's Cityscape with this unique initiative that showcases a quantum leap forward in the concept of sustainable real estate developments," said Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director-General, DLD. “Our efforts derive inspiration from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His leadership and ability to set out a path for the future motivates us to produce new projects that set the pace for Dubai's continued evolution as the world's foremost innovative property sector," he added.

"Work on The Perfect City will begin in early 2015 and is expected to be completed by 2021," explained Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, DLD.

"The city will feature 75 per cent green space and include 20,000 trees, which will contribute to reducing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The city will be 100 per cent sustainable and contain many lifestyle enhancing features, including a 500-metre canal. It will also provide DLD customers with facilities that will enable them to do all their property-related transactions in one area, without the need to navigate to different parts of Dubai, thereby saving them time, effort and money," she added.
