Dubai warns of 'false promises' by migration firms

Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has warned the public against falling prey to companies offering services for immigration to other countries, saying some of them are making “false promises".

DED said it had noticed that many local and foreign firms are luring people with “attractive immigration packages” for investment and other purposes, adding that those firms do not tell customers that their applications could be rejected.

“They are offering fake promises for immigration to other countries. We call on all clients to check any company making such an offer,” said Abdul Aziz Al Tanak, director of the commercial control division at DED.

“We have information that some consumers and clients who contract with those companies find that their applications for immigration have been rejected or find out that those companies are not specialised in such services,” he told 'Emarat Al Youm' daily.

He said some local companies are cheating clients by assuring them that their applications for immigration are guaranteed.

“But the clients are surprised to find out later that their applications have been turned down. This has caused disputes between the clients and those firms,” he said.

He advised immigration applicants to resort to specialised offices abroad, adding that they should first fill relevant applications and have interviews with the representatives of the country where they want to immigrate.

“It seems that many clients do not know that those countries have the right to reject any application for immigration for their own reasons.

"The so-called immigration firms here act as an intermediary between the client and the competent authorities in those countries and do not have any powers to obtain a visa for the applicant.”

Tanak advised those who seek to migrate to other countries to contact DED’s 'Hala Dubai' service on 600545555 for assistance.
