E-fraud going viral, Dubai Police warn

Number of online fraud cases are on the rise. Dubai Police recorded 278 cases in quater one this year.

According to Major Rashid Ahmed Lootah, Director, Department of Electronic Evidence, General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology, Dubai Police, 110 fraud cases, 108 theft of phone calls and 70 cases of insult, threat and blackmailing were recorded this year, 'Khaleej Times' reported.

Most victims were trapped into believing they are winners of million dirham schemes.

He urged BlackBerry users not to open unknown linkas and add unknown people on their friend's list.

E-evidence experts have dealt with other 261 cases including theft, breach of trust, immoral acts and intellectual property cases, he added.
