Early morning traffic jam surprises Dubai-Sharjah motorists

Traffic was moving at snail pace on Friday morning due to maintenance work

Motorists driving on Dubai-Sharjah Etihad Road were surprised to find themselves stuck in traffic jam today (Friday) morning at 7am with tail back going beyond Al Khan Bridge.

The traffic had started building up at 7.00am and it was still moving at snail pace at 7.45am due to road maintenance near Al Mullah Plaza.

“It was a surprise for me. I initially thought there’s an accident but when I crossed bridge near Ansar Mall an RTA electronic signboard cautioned me about maintenance work in progress,” a motorist said.

“Traffic is moving at snail pace, even slower than the normal working days,” the motorist said.

He said two lanes were closed due to maintenance work.

“Friday is a day when there’s no traffic. It takes me just 20 minutes to reach office in Dubai but today it took me 40 minutes because the traffic was moving very slow,” he said.

The traffic jam had eased after the completion of the road maintenance work.
