Egyptian returns Dh1.4 million found on his land, refuses reward

An Egyptian farmer who stumbled across a bag containing nearly 2.7 million pounds (Dh1.4 million) while plowing his land hurried to the nearest police station and handed over the money, newspapers said on Tuesday.

They quoted police as saying investigations later showed the money had been dumped there by two thieves, who were chased by police after robbing passengers near the northern Egyptian town of Beheira.

Police said the two thieves were arrested, but refused to guide them to the loot, adding that the farmer also rejected a reward for handing over the money.
